The Full Armour of God

Therefore put on the full armour of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.

Ephesians 6 v 13-18.

In these extraordinary days, we’re getting so much information about how we should try and safeguard our physical health but as we know, it’s just as important that we take care of our spiritual and mental health.

These verses from Ephesians 6 may be familiar but it doesn’t matter how many times we’ve read them, they are fresh and relevant NOW.

The language may describe the armour of a Roman soldier but the passage tells of the foundation of our faith…of who we are in Christ and the weapons he has equipped us with.

As we read and proclaim this passage, it can become a prayer.

Thank you Father that I know the truth and the truth will make me free.

Thank you that the blood of Jesus, shed for me, makes me righteous and I claim that covering.

Help me to be a bringer of peace in this time.

Increase in me the gift of faith so that I will not be afraid.

Thank you that your saving power and peace will guard my heart and mind.

Fill me with your Holy Spirit and put your word in my mouth.

And pray! Keep praying as often as you can during the day and the night…bring it all before God.

These are extraordinary times and we need to be fully equipped to take our stand, wherever we are, Whether on the front line caring for others, alone in our homes…or just trying to keep going with our lives, it’s more important than ever that we know our standing and authority in Christ.

Who am I?

I am a child of God.

I am a new creation.

I am a co-heir with Christ.

I am a temple of the Holy Spirit.

I have the mind of Christ.

I am more than a conqueror.

I am redeemed.

This is the foundation of our faith. This is the truth that sets us free.

Declare it and keep praying.
